How To Stop Severe Bleeding

To stop bleeding serious injury, follow these steps:
  1. Lay the affected person. If possible, the person's head should be slightly lower than the trunk or legs. This position reduces the chances of fainting by increasing blood flow to the brain. If possible, elevate the site of bleeding, such as a hand injury can be above the heart to reduce blood flow.
  2. Carefully clean the wound that bleeds.
  3. Apply pressure directly on the wound with a sterile dressing or clean cloth. Use your own hands if you have nothing at hand.
  4. Maintain pressure until bleeding stops, and when it stops, carefully wrap the bleeding with a bandage. (If you have anything handy, use a clean cloth simple).
  5. If bleeding continues and the blood seeps through the gauze or cloth, not to move, add more absorbent material on top, and if not stop, seek immediate medical help.
  6. If the bleeding does not stop with direct pressure may be necessary to apply pressure to the artery that feeds blood important to the wound area. In the case of a wound in the hand or forearm, for example, tightening the arteries present in the crook of his elbow against the bone.
  7. You have to immobilize the bleeding once the bleeding has been controlled, leaving the bandages in place, and carrying the injured to an emergency department as soon as possible.
