Basics to Increase Your Web Traffic

Basics to Increase Your Web Traffic

Okay, so you have been spending some time working on your website and it looks great. In fact, you have spent a bit of money on web development, graphics, copy, and your hosting costs.

You now are seeing "some" traffic, but it's pretty meager so you are considering what most people do: PPC Ads. Clearly, signing up and spending $50 - $200 a day on Pay-Per-Click Ads will bring you web traffic, but it may not bring you the "conversions" or sales that you want. If you are going to spend up to $1000 a week on PPC ads, isn't time that you take a minute and make sure that you are doing everything to increase your web traffic naturally without the help of advertisements?

Are there a few things that you might be forgetting to do to increase web traffic? The answer is that you probably are. Remember natural or "organic" web search results are often the ones that deliver high conversions rates, because there is something inherent about results that imply credibility to a product or service. In other words, people tend to have more confidence in a website and its product offerings when it comes up on page one, then say, page 10 of Google.
Here are few gentle reminders of what you can do to build up your website page rank on Google or other search engines:
1. Check your Meta Tags, Page Description, and Keywords. Yes, probably have already done this, but a simple keyword search can help you either add to existing keywords, or change them a little. Doing these small changes can dramatically improve your search results.
2. Fresh Content. Google recently came out and said that websites that add fresh content regularly will receive a little more favoritism in their search results. The idea is that the more fresh content you produce, Google rewards. So make it a habit to add to your website at least once a month.
3. Share Buttons. Do you make it easy for your website visitors to share with their friends and family? Today there are so many different social share buttons available for free that adding a button will take less than five minutes. Placing share buttons or specific plugins can help build plenty of relevant traffic.
4. Building links to your site. You have probably already heard that building links is essential, but if you haven't done so or have slacked off a bit, consider building links your next big step. Building links allows people to find your website from a variety of other websites. Remember, to build your links in a relevant websites that are related to yours to help you gain your full potential. For example, if you own a beauty supply store, linking up with a motorcycle shop blog will not do it. Now Google and other search engines reward those sites who have more links because it is often a sure way to determine which sites have a lot of relevance.
