- The new phones have a high economic value and are a temptation for the "friends of the alien." Do not lose sight, as you do with your purse or wallet. Write down the IMEI, the "registration" of the terminal, to dismiss him if needed. If it gets stolen notify your carrier. You can also install software that allows you to find and deletion of your private data in case of theft.
- If you buy a phone outside the official channels requests the seller selling the invoice to claim. Be careful because behind these sales can hide fraud (stolen phones by IMEI blocked, damaged, missing ...).
- The modern terminals allow you to protect your content, applications and keyboard and unlock it, using a password, digital or tactile. Enables the protection and do not let anyone use your phone. Nor share the password to protect your privacy and your communications. Hacking or intrusions avoid unpleasant consequences. If lost or stolen smartphone from the PC changed the passwords to email, social networks, electronic commerce applications, ... you had installed on the phone.
- Be aware of the possibilities that give these phones to their owners and partners. And do not turn into normal actions that may involve excessive control of your privacy or commercial bombardment acarrearte: geolocation used wisely allows instant messaging and different social networks.
- Care to make, store or send images of you compromising or, worse, others, and redistribute images outsiders can damage the image of the protagonists. Before you send it or share it instantly on social networks make sure there will be a problem for anyone, now or in the future. Then want to delete it or pretend that others do not is the solution.
- The sexting is a mistake. In the case of minors can lead to situations of sexual blackmail or cyber-bullying or harassment at school (grooming and bullying) know of many cases of people who have repented when it was too late. Redistributing the images of others to harm them is crime.
- smartphones and tablets suffer, as the other computers and devices that connect to the internet, attacks through what is known as techniques of "social engineering" emails or messages posted profiles on different social networks, massively distributed through accounts "kidnapped", include links containing supposedly very attractive ... and hiding under a shortened link, spam or malware. No links provided you access through unsolicited SMS: ignore these messages and, if possible fraud attempt, do reach the National Police.
- The new phones include an operating system and allows you to install many applications. These are at risk of being very effective vehicles of transmission, both for sending spam advertising with trojans to infect smartphones and tablets.
- Internet users are very concerned with the prevention and protection against viruses on PCs, but only 32% of the Spanish owners of smartphones with an antivirus program. Always use platforms, sites, and official firmware and software updated.
- Make regular backups of the contents of your phone or tablet. If relevant, double that content in different storage media (USB, home or business computers ...).
